19.2. General information

The transmission will transform the torque transferred from the engine in size and the direction. It is necessary for ensuring optimum speed and passability of the car, and also for the most economic operation of the engine and the movement of the car a backing. Besides, the transmission separates the engine and transmission during a stop and the parking of the car and at its movement on inertia with the working engine.

On cars are established 4-or 5-staged transmissions. Details of the transmission are placed in a case which is screwed by bolts on a back part of the engine.

The torque from the engine through coupling is transferred to an entrance shaft of the transmission. The output shaft of the transmission transmits torque through the driveshaft to reverse main gear. Gear wheels entrance and output shaft of the transmission are in continuous gearing with gear wheels of an intermediate shaft. Inclusion of transfer is carried out by movement of the sliding synchronizer coupling therefore the gear wheel rigidly connects to shaft.

Gear shifting is carried out by the lever installed on a floor of the car and the mechanism of the choice of transfers.

The mechanism of the choice of transfers moves the corresponding fork which in turn moves the sliding synchronizer coupling therefore the gear wheel rigidly connects to a synchronizer nave. As the nave of a sinkhroniz a Torah is established on vents of an output shaft, rigid connection of a nave with a gear wheel provides torque transmission from a gear wheel on an output shaft. The synchronizer consists of the blocking rings, the sprung crackers, a nave and the sliding coupling.
