21.8. Driveshaft

Prevention

At installation of the driveshaft it is necessary to use new nuts of fastening of forward and back parts of the driveshaft.

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Lift a back part of the car and record on supports.
2. Unscrew and remove the thermofilter of the exhaust system. If necessary, unscrew and remove the arms established across the driveshaft tunnel.
3. Establish a jack under the transmission and raise it so that the weight of the power unit was perceived by a jack.
4. Unscrew a nut, the fixing back part of an arm to the transmission and the bolts fixing an arm to the bottom of a body and remove an arm (see rice. Arrangement of the nut fixing a back part of an arm to the transmission and the bolts fixing an arm to the body bottom).
5. Using a wrench, unscrew the nut of the shlitsevy coupling located about the central bearing on two turns. At the same time be careful not to damage a rubber protective cover (see rice. Arrangement of a nut of the shlitsevy coupling of the driveshaft and bolts of fastening of the central bearing).
6. Apply combination tags on the elastic coupling of the driveshaft and an output flange of the transmission. Then unscrew nuts and remove the bolts fixing the elastic coupling to an output flange of the transmission. At installation it is necessary to use new nuts.
7. Apply combination tags on the elastic coupling of the driveshaft and a flange of reverse main gear. Unscrew nuts and take the bolts fixing the elastic coupling to reverse main gear. At installation it is necessary to use new nuts.
8. Supporting the driveshaft, unscrew bolts of fastening of an arm of the central bearing. Move a back part of the driveshaft forward and disconnect the driveshaft from a flange of reverse main gear. Disconnect a forward part of the driveshaft from an output flange of the transmission and remove the driveshaft.
Prevention

If the power shaft understands, previously apply combination tags on both parts of the driveshaft. It is necessary for the correct assembly of the driveshaft, otherwise will be broken balance weights in bulk that will cause emergence of vibration and additional noise at the movement. On some models there are already combination tags applied on both parts of the driveshaft. The tag on a forward part of the driveshaft has to be established in the middle of tags on the universal hinge (see rice. An arrangement of tags of combination on both parts of a power shaft).
9. Check a condition of rubber elastic couplings of the central bearing and universal hinge.

Installation

Tightening of nuts of fastening of the coupling of the driveshaft to a transmission flange

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. On models with the plug of a shaft located on the transmission, and the end of a shaft made of bronze grease the plug with lubricant on the basis of a molybdenum disulfide. If the plug to an izgotovla on not from bronze, use универсаль ny lubricant.
2. Install the driveshaft into place, at the same time combine tags on elastic couplings of the driveshaft with tags on an output flange of the transmission and a flange of reverse main gear. Fix an arm of the central bearing by bolts, without tightening them it is final.
3. Check combination of tags, then insert bolts of fastening of the elastic coupling of the driveshaft to reverse main gear and screw new nuts, having tightened them the required moment.
4. Check combination of tags, then insert bolts of fastening of the elastic coupling of the driveshaft to an output flange of the transmission, screw on them new nuts and tighten the required moment (see rice. Tightening of nuts of fastening of the coupling of the driveshaft to a transmission flange).
5. Tighten bolts of fastening of an arm of the central bearing the required moment.
6. Check that the protective rubber cover of the driveshaft is correctly established and tighten a nut of the shlitsevy coupling the required moment.
7. Establish an arm of fastening of a back part of the transmission and tighten a nut and bolts the required moment.
8. Install the thermofilter of the exhaust system and arms, then lower the car.
