8.5. Thermostat

Removal

Removal of a hose of cooling liquid from a thermostat casing on models with 4-cylinder petrol engines

Removal of a cover of the thermostat

Removal of laying from a thermostat casing

Extraction of the thermostat from a thermostat casing

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. The thermostat is installed in a casing which fastens bolts to lateral face of the water pump.
2. Remove a weight wire from the accumulator and merge cooling liquid from the cooling system.
3. Weaken a collar and remove a hose of cooling liquid from a thermostat casing (see rice. Removal of a hose of cooling liquid from a thermostat casing on models with 4-cylinder petrol engines).
4. Unscrew bolts and uncover the thermostat. If it is not uncovered, knock on it, but do not insert the screw-driver between a cover and a casing of the thermostat at all (see rice. Removal of a cover of the thermostat).
5. Remove laying and, having noted an arrangement, take the thermostat from a casing (see rice. Removal of laying from a thermostat casing, Extraction of the thermostat from a thermostat casing).

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Rough check of the thermostat can be made, having suspended it on a thread in the glass vessel filled with water and heating water to boiling. When boiling water the thermostat has to open, otherwise replace it.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Clear the interfaced surfaces of a cover and a casing of the thermostat.
2. Install the thermostat in a casing so that its party with a spring was directed to a casing. On models with the diesel engine the ledge on a cover of a casing has to enter a groove on the thermostat. On models with the petrol engine install the thermostat so that the valve of removal of air was in the highest point.
3. Establish laying on a thermostat casing.
4. Establish a cover of the thermostat and screw up fastening bolts, having tightened them the required moment.
5. Connect a hose of cooling liquid to a thermostat cover.
6. Fill in cooling liquid in the cooling system.
