10.6. Fuel filter

Prevention

Gasoline extremely fire - is also explosive therefore it is necessary to show care during the work on any part of fuel system.

Works on fuel system need to be performed in well aired room for what it is possible to open all windows and doors for draft creation.

During the work on fuel system do not use naked flame, electric welding and tools during the work with which sparks can be formed. Check that in close proximity to a workplace there is a charged fire extinguisher.

For protection of eyes against hit of fuel in them use points. At hit of fuel on skin wash out this place a plentiful amount of water.

Capacity in which there was a fuel contains vapors of fuel and is potentially explosive.

During the work with fuel system observe purity as the dirt which got to canals of fuel system can block them that will break normal operation of the engine.

Removal

The fuel filter is installed in the giving fuel-supply line and access to it is possible from under the lower part of the car.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Take off pressure in fuel system.
2. Remove a weight wire from the accumulator.
3. Lift a back part of the car and record on supports.
4. Unscrew screws and remove the protection cover of the fuel pump, the fuel filter and the accumulator of pressure (see rice. Unscrewing of screws of fastening of the protection cover of the fuel filter).
5. Using clips, press fuel hoses from two parties of the fuel pump.
6. Unscrew connecting bolts, the fixing fuel hoses to the fuel pump and remove hoses from the fuel pump (see rice. An arrangement of connecting bolts of fastening of fuel-supply lines to the fuel filter). If connection of fuel hoses to the fuel filter is made by bayonetny clips, remove clips from the fuel filter and remove sealing laying.
7. Unscrew the screw, take the fastener and remove the fuel filter from an arm (see rice. Arrangement of the screw of fastening of the belt holding the fuel pump). On later models the arm fastens two screws which also fix the fuel pump.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Installation is made in the sequence, the return to removal taking into account the next moments.
2. The arrow on the case of the fuel filter specifies the direction of a stream of fuel and has to be directed to the engine.
3. Check that brackets of fastening of the fuel filter are correctly placed on the anticorrosive plastic isolating tube on the filter case.
4. When using bayonetny connections it is necessary to establish new sealing laying.
5. Start the engine and check that there is no leak of fuel from connections of the fuel filter.
