12:11. Moment of injection of the fuel pump of high pressure

In order that the fuel pump gave fuel to each cylinder in the required timepoint, it is necessary to check and, if necessary, to adjust the fuel injection moment if the fuel pump of high pressure or other connected elements was removed.

For adjustment the moments of injection of fuel on the fuel pump of high pressure there is an adjusting opening closed by a carving stopper. The injection of fuel in the first cylinder happens when the ledge on the regulator case in the fuel pump passes about an adjusting opening.

When the adjusting ledge on the case of the regulator is precisely combined with the center of an adjusting opening, it is necessary to check the provision of a bent shaft, using the index on a cover of a driving chain and a tag on a quencher of tortional fluctuations of a bent shaft. In this provision of a bent shaft and the fuel pump of high pressure the indirect beginning of injection of fuel is provided.

More exact measurement of the beginning of injection of fuel is performed by means of the special equipment and the sensor which is screwed in in an adjusting opening of the fuel pump. As this equipment is available only for dealers of Mercedes-Benz and Bosch, the alternative method is described further. It should be noted that the alternative method provides only approximate installation allowing start of the engine and, at the first opportunity adjustment needs to be made at service station.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove a weight wire from the accumulator.
2. Remove the fan of a radiator and a casing.
3. Unscrew a stopper of an adjusting opening sideways of the fuel pump of high pressure.
4. Using a small mirror, through an adjusting opening watch position of the case of the regulator.
5. Turn a bent shaft of the engine in the working direction until the adjusting ledge on the case of the regulator is not combined with the center of an adjusting opening (see rice. Use of the special tool for fixing of the case of the regulator from a provorachivaniye).
6. Determine the angle of installation of a bent shaft by the tag on a quencher of tortional fluctuations combined with the index (see rice. Installation of the piston of the first cylinder in situation 15 °).
7. Check the received value with technical characteristics and, if necessary, make adjustment.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Turning a bent shaft of the engine, install the engine in the provision of the moment of injection of fuel.
2. Weaken three bolts fixing a forward part of the fuel pump to a fixing flange. Also weaken a bolt of fastening of a back part of the fuel pump to an arm.
3. Unscrew the stopper from an adjusting opening located sideways the fuel pump.
4. Using a small mirror, through an adjusting opening watch the regulator case. Rotating the adjusting screw located sideways the fuel pump of high pressure, combine a ledge on the regulator case with the center of an adjusting opening (see rice. Arrangement of the adjusting screw of the moment of injection of fuel).
Prevention

At rotation of the adjusting screw to the right the moment of an advancing of injection decreases, and at turn increases to the left.


5. After carrying out adjustment tighten all bolts of fastening of the fuel pump of high pressure the required moment.
6. Screw up a stopper in an adjusting opening and tighten it the required moment.
7. This method provides only approximate installation of the moment of injection of fuel and at the first opportunity it is necessary to make adjustment at service station.
