3.10.2.2. Asterisk of a bent shaft

Removal

Removal the coupling of the drive of the oil pump from a bent shaft
  

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Uncover a driving chain.
2. Using paint, apply a combination tag on an asterisk of a bent shaft and a link of a driving chain.
3. Remove a camshaft asterisk.
4. On later engines take off a boot of the mechanism of a tension of a driving chain in order that it was possible to remove a chain from an asterisk of a bent shaft.
5. Remove the coupling of the drive of the oil pump from the forward end of a bent shaft (see the drawing).
6. Remove a driving chain from an asterisk of a bent shaft.
7. Using a stripper, remove an asterisk from the forward end of a bent shaft.
8. In the presence remove a segment spline.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Check a condition of teeths on an asterisk. Teeths on an asterisk have the symmetric form and in the presence of development on teeths the asterisk needs to be replaced.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Establish a segment spline in a groove of a bent shaft.
2. At installation of a new asterisk of a bent shaft apply on it a tag on the same place, as on an old asterisk.
3. Combine a groove on an asterisk with a segment spline and establish an asterisk on a bent shaft. At installation of an asterisk it is possible to use a tubular mandrel and the hammer.
4. Install the coupling of the drive of the oil pump.
5. Dress a driving chain on an asterisk of a bent shaft according to earlier put tags.
6. In the presence establish a boot of the mechanism of a tension of a driving chain.
7. Establish a camshaft asterisk.
8. Establish a cover of a driving chain.
