CAMSHAFT ASTERISK
Removal
| PERFORMANCE ORDER |
| 1. Remove the top cover of a driving chain. |
| 2. Install the piston of the first cylinder in the top dead point and check that all adjusting tags are combined with indexes. |
| 3. Remove the mechanism of a tension of a driving chain. |
| 4. Using paint, apply combination tags on an asterisk of the camshaft and a link of a driving chain, both an asterisk of the camshaft and the camshaft. |
| 5. Unscrew three bolts, remove an asterisk from the camshaft and take from a driving chain. Constantly support branches of a driving chain in the tense situation in order that the driving chain was not removed from an asterisk of a bent shaft. |
| 6. Take a segment spline from a camshaft groove. |

| PERFORMANCE ORDER |
| 1. Check a condition of teeths on an asterisk. Teeths on an asterisk have the symmetric form and in case of development on the one hand of teeths the asterisk needs to be replaced. |

Installation
Prevention
The asterisk of the camshaft has several modifications therefore when replacing an asterisk it is necessary to consult with representatives of the Mercedes-Benz company.

| 1. Establish a segment spline in a groove on distributive to a shaft |
| 2. Check that all adjusting tags are combined with indexes. At installation of a new asterisk of the camshaft apply on it combination tags on the same places, as on an old asterisk. |
| 3. Dress a chain on an asterisk, having combined earlier put tags. |
| 4. Install an asterisk on the camshaft according to earlier put tags and fix it by bolts. |
| 5. Install the mechanism of a tension of a driving chain. |
| 6. Turn a bent shaft of the engine on 2 whole revolutions clockwise and check that all adjusting tags were combined with indexes. |
| 7. Establish the top cover of a driving chain. |

ASTERISK OF THE BENT SHAFT
Removal
Prevention
At removal of an asterisk of a bent shaft it is necessary to cut one link of a chain of the drive of the oil pump. Therefore or prepare a new link of a chain or a new chain of the oil pump. For removal of an asterisk of a bent shaft it is necessary to use a stripper.
At removal of a chain it is necessary to use an emery circle or vulkanit, for cutting of the coming-out hats of one of chain links.
Take off from a hinged finger a boot (1) of the mechanism of a tension of a driving chain of the oil pump, the plug (2) and a spring (3)

| 1. Take off a boot of the mechanism of a tension of a driving chain. |
| 2. Close the oil pallet pure rags. |
| 3. Take off a boot of the mechanism of a tension of a driving chain of the oil pump from a hinged finger. Remove the plug and a spring from a hinged finger. At the same time note a spring arrangement for the correct repeated installation it on the place (see the drawing). |
| 4. Using an emery stone or vulkanit, a soshlifuyta the rasklepanny ends of a connecting link of a driving chain of the oil pump on the top part of an asterisk of a bent shaft. |
| 5. Supporting a chain, remove the fixing plate and beat out a connecting link of a chain from a chain. |
| 6. Being careful that shaving did not get to the oil pallet, remove the rags closing the oil pallet. |
| 7. Using a soft wire, bind the ends of a chain of the drive of the oil pump in order that she did not act from an asterisk of the oil pump. |
| 8. Apply combination tags on a driving chain and an asterisk of the camshaft, then remove a driving chain from an asterisk. |
| 9. Remove a driving chain from an asterisk of a bent shaft. Note orientation of an asterisk and, using a stripper, remove an asterisk of a bent shaft. |
| 10. Remove a segment spline from a groove of a bent shaft. |

| 3. Heat an asterisk of a bent shaft to temperature of 50 °C, combine a groove in an asterisk with a segment spline and establish an asterisk on a bent shaft. |
| 4. Establish a driving chain on a camshaft asterisk according to earlier put tags. |
| 5. Establish a driving chain on an asterisk of a bent shaft, combining tags on an asterisk and a chain. |
| 6. Arrange the ends of a chain of the drive of the oil pump on an asterisk of a bent shaft, then connect the ends of a chain a connecting link. Establish the fixing plate on a connecting link and a rasklepayta a connecting link. Check that after a rasklepyvaniye there were no metal agnails. |
| 7. Install the plug, a spring and a boot of the mechanism of a tension on a hinged finger. |
| 8. Establish a boot of the mechanism of a tension of a driving chain. |
