27.41. The drive on four wheels (4 MATIC)


 Provisions of the service lever:

1 – Normal working situation;
2 – Situation at which diagnostics is made


At turn of a key in the ignition lock in situation 2 the yellow control bulb on a speedometer and a yellow bulb 4 MATIC on a combination of devices lights up.

The yellow control bulb burns at the movement if blocking of differential is in addition connected to the drive of forward wheels. The differential is blocked until the car moves on a slippery covering.

Turning on of the four-wheel drive 4 MATIC depends on a condition of the carriageway.

If at the working engine the control lamp 4 MATIC or together with a yellow control lamp on a speedometer lights up, so in system of the four-wheel drive there is a malfunction. In this case move the service lever in a motor compartment to the right against the stop to situation 2. At the same time the drive of the car will be made only by back wheels.

With malfunction in system of the four-wheel drive it is necessary to address on Mercedes-Benz service station.

At diagnostics of the four-wheel drive the service lever in a motor compartment has to be installed in situation 2. At the same time the control bulb of the four-wheel drive is lit and at once dies away.

Time of diagnostics of the four-wheel drive should not exceed 15 minutes.
