23:11. Replacement of the bearing of a back nave

Prevention

For removal of the bearing of a back nave it is necessary to use a hydraulic press and tubular mandrels of the corresponding diameter. In the absence of a press it is possible to use big table vises. Internal rings of the bearing are pressed on the nave plug. If at removal of the bearing its internal ring remains on the nave plug, for removal of this ring it is necessary to use a stripper.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove the fastener of a back nave.
2. Using the corresponding mandrels, install the nave fastener on a table of a hydraulic press and, being careful, squeeze out a nave from the bearing. If the internal ring of the bearing remained on the nave plug, remove it with application of a stripper.
3. Remove a lock ring of fastening of the bearing from the nave fastener.
4. Install the nave fastener on a table of a hydraulic press and, using a tubular mandrel of the corresponding diameter, squeeze out the bearing from the nave fastener.
5. Clear a nest for the bearing in the fastener of a nave and, using an emery paper, remove all agnails. Check a condition of a lock ring of the bearing and, if necessary, replace it.
6. Apply a thin film of engine oil on an external ring of the bearing.
7. Install the bearing on the fastener of a nave and, using the tubular mandrel leaning on an external ring of the bearing press the bearing in a nest against the stop.
8. Fix the bearing by a lock ring. At the same time check that the lock ring accurately was established in a nave fastener flute.
9. Establish an internal ring of the bearing on a mandrel of the corresponding diameter and press a nave in the bearing.
10. Check smoothness of rotation of the bearing, then install the fastener of a back nave on the car.
