23:18. System of the self-leveled back suspension bracket on the Station wagon models

Elements of the self-leveled back suspension bracket
1 – hydraulic pump;
2 – tank;
3 – control unit;

4 – pressure accumulator;
5 – shock-absorbers

On the Station wagon models with the self-leveled back suspension bracket back shock-absorbers have tanks with hydraulic liquid. In transit heavy freights this liquid, influencing shock-absorbers together with cylindrical springs of a back suspension bracket supports the required clearance of the car. Liquid moves in tanks the electric pump via the control unit and accumulators of pressure which are located in a back part of the car (see the drawing).

The system of the self-leveled back suspension bracket is run by the block fixed on the car bottom. The control unit is connected to the back stabilizer of cross stability and determines the size of loading of the car by position of the stabilizer.

At the working engine the hydraulic pump of system of the self-leveled back suspension bracket gives liquid under pressure to system via the adjusting valve. If the car is not loaded, the adjusting valve is closed, and liquid comes back to the tank located in a motor compartment. In this case the system of the self-leveled back suspension bracket does not exert any impact on work of a back suspension bracket, and only cylindrical springs work.

At increase in loading of the car the adjusting valve opens, and liquid from pressure accumulator under pressure moves in tanks of shock-absorbers. As a result pressure in shock-absorbers increases also a shock-absorber rod, going out of the shock-absorber, raises a back part of the car. After a raising of a back part of the car on the required height the adjusting valve returns liquid in pressure accumulator. Thus, the control unit supports a back part of the car at the required level irrespective of loading of the car.

Accumulators of pressure have two cameras divided by a rubber diaphragm. One of cameras is filled with gas under pressure. At compression of the shock-absorber liquid from the shock-absorber moves to pressure accumulator, moving a diaphragm and in addition compressing gas in the second camera. If at the movement of the car the rod of the shock-absorber goes out of the shock-absorber, liquid under pressure of gas moves from pressure accumulator to the shock-absorber.

Check and repair of system of the self-leveled back suspension bracket need to be made at service station with use of the special equipment.
