23:20. Steering wheel

Prevention

At installation it is necessary to use a new bolt of fastening of a steering wheel.

Removal

Models without safety cushion

Removal from the central part of a steering wheel remove Mercedes-Benz emblems

Extraction of a bolt of fastening of a steering wheel

Removal of a steering wheel from a steering column

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove Mercedes-Benz emblem from the central part of a steering wheel (see rice. Removal from the central part of a steering wheel remove Mercedes-Benz emblems).
2. Unscrew and take a bolt of fastening of a steering wheel (see rice. Extraction of a bolt of fastening of a steering wheel).
3. Using paint or a chertilka, note the mutual provision of a steering wheel and steering shaft. Having pulled on itself, remove a steering wheel from shlits of a steering shaft. If the steering wheel sits densely on vents of a steering shaft, at removal turn it in the parties and tap with a palm from a reverse side of a steering wheel (see rice. Removal of a steering wheel from a steering column).
4. Check a condition of contacts of a sound signal and a contact ring for existence of wear or damages and, if necessary, replace.

Models with a safety cushion

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove a safety cushion from the central part of a steering wheel.
2. Unscrew and take a bolt of fastening of a steering wheel (see rice. Extraction of a bolt of fastening of a steering wheel).
3. Using paint or a chertilka, note the mutual provision of a steering wheel and steering shaft. Having pulled on itself, remove a steering wheel from shlits of a steering shaft. If the steering wheel sits densely on vents of a steering shaft, at removal turn it in the parties and tap with a palm from a reverse side of a steering wheel (see rice. 4. Check a condition of contacts of a sound signal and a contact ring for existence of wear or damages and, if necessary, replace.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Installation is made in the sequence, the return to removal taking into account the next moments:

and – apply a thin film of lubricant on a contact ring of a sound signal and establish a steering wheel on vents of a steering shaft according to the tags put before removal;
b – fix a steering wheel by a new bolt and tighten it the required moment.

Models with a safety cushion

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Installation is made in the sequence, the return to removal taking into account the next moments:
and – if position of the contact block was broken at removal of a steering wheel, press the block and rotate the central part of the block counterclockwise against the stop, and then from this situation turn the central part of the block clockwise on 3 whole revolutions;
b – apply a thin film of lubricant on a contact ring of a sound signal and establish a steering wheel on vents of a steering shaft according to the tags put before removal. Check correctness of an arrangement of an electrical wiring of the contact block;
with – on early models check that the reference point in the top part the helmsman of a column was combined with an opening of the contact block;
d – screw in a new bolt of fastening of a steering wheel and tighten it the required moment. Establish a safety cushion in the center of a steering wheel.
